In Loving Memory of Kwong Tsoi Cheong

Tsoi Cheong was born in November 1937 in Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was the 5th child of 10 siblings comprising a sister, 6 brothers and 3 step-sisters.

Tsoi Cheong spent his early childhood in Malaysia and left home at a tender age of 17 to further his studies in Tianjin, China, where he went to university, majoring in Mathematics.

In China, Tsoi Cheong met the love of his life, Yam Lan, a Hakka from Mauritius and a fellow Mathematics major in university. At the onset of the Cultural Revolution, Tsoi Cheong travelled to Macau and Yam Lan returned to Mauritius. The two were eventually reunited in Hong Kong in 1967 where they got married and settled happily in the city which they would eventually call home. Tsoi Cheong and Yam Lan then started a family and were blessed with 2 children, Shirley and Michael.

As a young man, Tsoi Cheong managed the family business in Hong Kong and spent his spare time looking after the family and enjoying his many hobbies, which included hiking, investing in shares and watching soccer. Even though Tsoi Cheong had retired from work some 20 years ago, he remained active in the stock market, often spending hours each day with his investor friends discussing stock picks and strategies.

He was always a doting father and husband and actively raised his 2 children, seeing them through their education and the start of their successful careers and families of their own. He became a proud grandfather in 2006 and now has 3 grandchildren who love him dearly.

After more than 50 years away from Malaysia, he was able to return to the country of his birth and be physically reunited with his siblings in 2011. They were also able to travel to Hong Kong to join in his 80th birthday celebrations.

Tsoi Cheong lived a full life and was always thankful for the many blessings that he enjoyed through his family, relatives and friends. He leaves a lasting legacy to be remembered and loved by all.
